Ambient music pioneer Steve Roach has announced two upcoming releases, A Deeper Silence and Landmass.
Here’s what he has to say about the new releases:
A Deeper Silence reflects back upon his popular 1984 release Structures from Silence. “It has the feeling of being aged 24 years from the time of Structures, but deeper, darker and like a big sigh of time breathing steady and strong.”, Roach noted, “Minimal and infinite in its essence, like all of my long-form zones, A Deeper Silence is a functional soundworld specifically created to enhance the atmosphere of your personal sanctuary, your living environment and beyond.””It’s been playing in loop mode here within the sleep chamber for the past 4 months, and has passed the test wonderfully,” adds Roach
Landmass is a live recording from May of last year for the Star’s End radio program hosted by Chuck Van Zyl. Landmass was created from material prepared specifically for the occasion. Described as a “surreal shapeshifting adventure, morphing through a constantly altering perspective giving witness to the creation of iconic landscape formations, stone monuments and massive alluvial desert plains, and the occasional pyroclastic flow”, Landmass “transcends the idea of what a live recording can be” according to Steve Roach.
