TouchOSC – the customizable OSC/MIDI controller for iOS, has been updated, adding CoreMIDI and Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer support.
This is an important update for iOS musicians. Now, the $4.99 app not only lets you send/receive Open Sound Control messages over a Wi-Fi network, but it supports both CoreMIDI and the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer interfaces for sending and receiving messages to hardware MIDI gear. If it makes noises, you can probably control it with TouchOSC.
Developers have also announced plans to add an area to their site to support sharing of TouchOSC layouts.
TouchOSC (App Store link) provides a number of different touch controls to send and receive messages:
- Faders
- Rotary controls
- Push buttons
- Toggle buttons
- XY pads
- Multi-faders
- Multi-toggles
- LEDs
- Labels
- Time & battery displays
Additionally the program can send Accelerometer data. The application comes with example default layouts and completely custom layouts can be constructed using the free TouchOSC Editor application.
A free editor app is available for OS X, Windows & Linux that lets you create your own control custom control surfaces.
Been waiting on this for eons. Hoping and praying they would add wired midi support. I Didn't think it was gonna happen. Now i'm bout to make a gang of Templates that will set my hardware on fire! Whomp!
Shout out to Dave Smith!
I was thinking of buying an Akai miniak, but hd second thoughts because of the editing process. No I don't because I will use Touch OSC to do that 🙂
if you use a Missing Link, do NOT update! TouchOSC seems to not send Custom msg anymore, so the Missing Link stops working!
