Oh you little tease!
Love it.
Fuckin awesome Maschine !
To me, the Mode Machines SID is a double-edged sword: on the one hand, I love chiptune sounds and especially the fact that they will use 6581 chips (at least for the first few batches). Pure C64 goodness.
On the other hand, the announced price of ca. 600€ is just too high. You can get an used Commodore 64 from eBay, buy a MSSIAH cartridge and you will spend about 200€. Something between 300-400€ would have been far more appropriate in my point of view.
Nostalgic values aside, the architecture of the C64’s sound chip is not that sophisticated that it would justify such a high price.
Or you can buy Plogue Chipsounds for less than 100.
does this thing not look like its chassis was modeled from a 303?
maybe its just me
the sequencers style keyboard
@plasma: It is indeed modeled after the 303. Mode machines’ most famous product is the x0xb0x – a tb303 clone, the most acurate sounding one available or so they say. So this SID thing is modelled after that.
Just one SID for 800 bucks? Eww…
I’ve seen this machine 10 years ago on Youtube. or rather another one nased on the 64 with no keyboard but a lot of controllers….sp whats the news in this… so….
