Akai has updated iMPC – its MPC app for the iPad – adding sample editing, mute group and more of the MPC action that users expect.
Here’s what’s new in iMPC 1.2:
- Enhancements
- Mute Groups – Assign a pad to mute when an another assigned pad is struck
- Retrim – Edit the start and end point on any sample at any time
- Fine-Grain Tempo Control – Set your tempos with ultra-precise accuracy up to 1/100 of the BPM value
- AudioPaste Integration – Enhanced integration with increased compatibility
- Improvements
- Audio Stability – Improved sequence audio stability when returning to Beat 1
- Waveform Accuracy – 32-bit and 24-bit audio files now show proper waveform graphics in Sampler window
iMPC is available for $6.99 in the App Store.
If you’ve used the update, let us know what you think of it!
Try again Akai!!!! Audiobus has been out for months now. Where’s the sample auto chop along with folders to organize files? Time stretching would be nice too!!!!
And where’s the god damn folder support!? A bazillion samples all jumbled up and disorganized just like Numark.
Two things I need for this app, audiobus, and a way to delete the included content. I have a 16gb iPad and I hate these 600mb apps that have samples I don’t even use.
I really WANT to like this app. Just feel a little dissapointed. Between this and Imaschine, they have so much unrealized potential. Maybe we’ll get iBattery!
Glad to see this getting updates – rev 1 was short on features.
… and this version continues with this trend (short on features) I’m afraid.
Looks like Retronyms blatantly refuses to implement Audiobus in their apps 🙁
I agree it needs more updates to be satisfying but your statement isn’t true, iMini got audiobus- probably because people made a lot more noise about it.
for me iMPC doesn’t have enough features/nice enough workflow yet to make me want to actually use it with audiobus.
hmm…nice effort but a long way to go before catching up to nanostudio.
Where’s midi?
I’m really tempted to buy this app, but beyond than GUI replica from an MPC, that’s a good feature to amaze friends that are into beatmaking (in special people from old school), I see no need to have this app.
Since I have TouchOSC, I can trigger loops/samples in a bunch of VSTs in my computer, in a almost infinite way of edit samples to my taste. I can even fake velocity sense creating layouts in TouchOSC with button layers. (just placing a push button over another, just leave some space to the background button, set a low range for it, makes top button smaller than background button and top button goes full range 0-127)
If I want go standalone with iPad, I already have FL Studio Mobile. Which is way better than iMPC because I can finish “sketch loops” from FL Mobile in FL desktop version. The developer could do the same with iMPC, some sort of save the project to open in a real MPC.
I wish you all would post on retronyms Facebook page and ask them when they are going to fix the audio export bug. It was the first bug and they admitted to having it on Facebook right after the first release. It still exist and is annoying the heck out of me. You can’t even export proper loops with the app. Please everyone go to Facebook and ask them to fix this.
I would but I don’t see the point to be honest.
This app is lame, and akai want this as a entry level to the MPC studio etc.
They are deliberately withholding features like chop and they mixed up the pad midi numbers so it would only work with their hardware.
This is a cash grab on the MPC name and it sucks.
So much potential and so much fail.
Akai has fallen from its once high pedestal, makes me sad 🙁
Goodbye Akai… I will miss you
I couldn’t agree more !!!
Yeah this lack of generosity, particularly since the iPad has the processing power and this is a competitive market, is disappointing.
I’d pay $20 for this app if it had step sequencing. You wan to be dominant in the market you need to earn it, thn people are happy to pay more than the $5 of the usual app.
Also with full functionality, users will buy the USB controllers to run off the iPad, no one really WANTS to lug around their whole laptop if the don’t have to.
Missed opportunity.
