Elektron has announced a soundpack for the Analog Rytm drum machine – Straight 808.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
A classic reborn in a future classic. The hand picked selection of tape saturated 808 samples, all recorded by Goldbaby, and the magic circuits of the Analog Rytm are thick as thieves. Load ’em in, tweak, mangle, and enjoy. The Analog Rytm is ready to retro-boom.
The sound pack is specifically made for the Analog Rytm. Included is an Analog Rytm project featuring 16 patterns and 16 kits. The kits also feature performances and scenes, great for live tweaking the patterns.
Here are official audio demos for Straight 808:

Key Features:
- Sound pack size: 6.2 MB. 16 bit/48 kHz/mono WAV samples.
- 1 project. 16 patterns. 16 kits.
- Scene and performance macros for each kit.
- 14 kicks. 16 snares. 9 toms. 7 congas. 9 hats. 4 cymbals. 1 clap. 1 clave. 1 rimshot. 1 shaker. 1 cowbell.
Straight 808 is available now for US $15.
That’s 25 cents a sample for those keeping track…
I guess more sounds are always welcomed…
but personally, I’d prefer sample packs with more acoustic sounds/ sounds unobtainable with the analog drum engine… The Rytm can already do passable 808 type sounds, and the Goldbaby 808 kits have been available for years now.. Give me stuff to layer with!!! Give me odd percussion, cymbals, stabs/hits, etc… I could use those more.
That is like buying air or sunlight, it is already free everywhere you go.
Charging money for a 6mb sample pack is just lame on Elektron’s part..
