  1. I bought the paid version when it first appeared and it was OK, but it got updated with the sequencer and then that made it a useful sound machine. I haven’t included my tablets into my synth hardware set up, preferring to make music without computers, but if there is a simple way to use a USB to midi cable to connect with hardware then I probably would.

    1. on Android you can simply connect your master keyboard to the tablet with an USB cable (and the adapter for the tablet USB size) and you’re ready to go! No software or hardware needed.

  2. Looks and sounds great! Not sure it’s the closest, many iOS synths are better, more powerful. But the UI on this is sweet and all elements are very organised you know? That is a huge selling point.

Many iOS synths are too claustrophobic and this looks tidier than most of them. The developer would do very well financially to port this to iOS too like Rej did with caustic.

If I had an android device I’d not hesitate to press the purchase button, so good job!

Things slowly picking up for android:)

    1. Things ARE picking up on the Android side, but I still feel like we’re 3-4 years behind where iOS is. The quality of tablets is nowhere near as good as the iPad, too. Lots of good phones, but mostly crappy tablets.

I saw a Nexus review at Android Police the other day, and it basically said to stick with iPads for now.

This looks ok, but not like Gadget and apps like that caliber.

      1. android may be 3-4 years behind apple
but in 4-5 years where will apple be ?
still around for sure…but not the go to only game in town.
i like ios 6 and ios 7, ios 8 .. not so much my io dock does not work
and apple keeps adding non music features i do not want .

      1. True dat, some of the most memorable electronic music for people of a certain age consists largely of 8bit game themes. I only poke fun at the constant “analog synth” qualifier mentioned in the promos (of this and every other app), as that is obviously not its key selling point

  3. Its hard to tell if this thing actually sounds any good when all we have is a trance track with a couple of presets being used in it to go by.

  4. man forget that analog comparison stuff, you people need to get on the wagon, and get off of the horse. as soon as you record your analog synths onto a computer it is chopped up into tiny sample grains anyway. (let the digital hate rain) I haven’t used this yet but the abilities of it look impressive, and the video shows off the filter just fine. an acid track or a cheesy saw tooth and filter dub step song would have not showed the abilities any better. i do kind of wish the parameters they were tweaking would have been heard in real time.

i like the ability of the synth to have FM capabilities and the sequencer looks like it is a great addition.

    1. Haha yes I’m sorry I was being a bit harsh, but with that kind of hyperbole in the ad copy its hard to resist taking a shot at it. Competition is good for consumers, to each their own, it’s not the tools it’s the user, and all that jazz. More music = better world

  5. and for the record i do believe analog synths sound different, i just don’t believe most synths are any better than others, it is how you use them.

  6. Why does Synthopia not cut put the hyperbole in the titles of its posts? I mean c’mon, we’re all mostly capable of smelling snake oil.

    1. It’s not hyperbole from Synthopia. See the quotes? They mean it was quotation from another source.
The hyperbole is from the company. It’s to get the conversation going, which it clearly did.
Are you new to the internets?

        1. BTW, quotes existed before Al Gore invented them. So I missed the quotes, but that’s because I’m old, or had to much coffee at the time. But thanks for setting me straight in such a direct manner.
