This video demos the Electro Faustus Blackfly – a spring activated instrument that delivers a wide spectrum of sonic textures.
The Blackfly is patched through a Moogerfooger MF102 Ring Mod & MF104Z Analog Delay – with reverb from the desk.
Video demo via Doom Drone Noise Death Ambient synthesist Swan Messiah.
The Blackfly is $149.95 at the Electro Faustus site.
I would be interested to hear what it sounds like without “Moogerfooger MF102 Ring Mod & MF104Z Analog Delay – with reverb from the desk”
Woah, that thing is cool!
doom and death …..what a tempting package !!
Personally, I am into Doom Drone Death Dance!
Sounds like early Coil!
This is like a soundtrack to how I feel every day until I have my morning coffee..
Ok, good idea but…one and still the same sound. We know how work long reverb. Some other sound possibility in this toy?
I don’t get it is it just contact mic’d springs on a plate?
yes, that is what it appears to be.
As indicated in previous comments, this video does not demonstrate how this ‘instrument’ sounds at all.
We hear a great deal of reverb and delay as well as some textural sound that appears to emanate from a Moog synth, though never the original and untreated sound of the ‘instrument’.
I’d personally like to see more videos where the ‘product’ in question is first demonstrated ‘raw’ , unaccompanied and untreated before it is effected or used in conjunction with other ‘instruments’ .
You know you can get the same effect with an old guitar pickup, some screws, and some springs, right?
