Clawtar is a musical instrument and MIDI controller app for iPad that adapts to your hands, instead of making you adapt to a preset layout.
Clawtar’s adaptive interface allows you to position your hands and fingers in the most natural and comfortable way. After choosing your position, you can play by moving only your fingers, with your hands completely relaxed.
Here’s a set of video previews:
Features:
- Adaptive interface
- Chromatic scale
- 4+ octaves range (8+ with octave shift buttons)
- Pitch-bend control
- Modulation control
- Volume control
- Repeat button (allows to play same note multiple times faster)
- Transposition (allows to change root note)
- 9 built-in sounds.
- Virtual MIDI and Wi-Fi MIDI output.
Clawtar is available for US $5.99 in the App Store.

While I like the adaptive keyboard concept, $5.99 does seem a little pricey for essentially what is a basic controller with 9 built-in sounds.
FYI, here is a quick start guide for Clawtar http://www.clawtar.info/quickstart.
