Here’s a sneak preview of Gestrument Pro – a new MIDI controller for iPad.
Gestrument PRO is a new version of the iPad app Gestrument, released several years ago by developers Jesper Nordin and Jonatan Liljedahl. Gestrument is designed to translate gestures into MIDI.
The video demonstrates the beta of Gestrument Pro, being used to control a patch on the Dave Smith Instruments Tetr4 Synthesizer, going through a Strymon Timeline Delay Pedal.
Details on Gestrument Pro are still to be announced.
Not entirely clear what the app is doing other than generating a note on/off, showing some dots on the screen, and perhaps sending some CC via horizontal position.
Might be a cool app, but that demo really didn’t highlight its super powers.
Does make me a little curious about the TETR4, which I hadn’t heard of (or didn’t remember).
Tetr4 is basically a 4-voice multitimbral version of Mopho, which is basically a single voice of Prophet 08 plus a suboscillator. All 3 are now discontinued, but should be easy to find on the used market.
I have Gestrument but this gives me zero interest in v2.
