At Ableton Loop 2017, sound design rockstar Francis Preve presented a session on The Secret of Sound Design.

Preve’s work can be heard in products from Ableton, Avid, Propellerhead, Roland and others, and in products like Korg Gadget & Prologue and the Dave Smith Instruments REV2.

In the presentation, Preve demos some practical tips, but his real focus is on encouraging synthesists and sound designers to practice listening as a sound designer. He also talks about applying this type of listening to a project, synthesizing realistic soundscapes.

In the second half of the session, he’s joined by moderator Peter Kirn of CDM.
