NAMM 2006 Show NewsVarious - Motown RemixedTuesday, July 19, 2005Motown Remixed is a fun collection of remixes of Motown hits from artists like the Jackson 5, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. The remixes do a good job of providing an updated look at some familiar hits, while not veering off so far from the originals to be distracting. Most of the originals are dance tunes, so the tracks survive the remix process well. Highlights of the CD include the remix of Glady Knight & the Pips take on I Heard it Through the Grapevine; Rare Earth's I Just Want to Celebrate; and Rick James' Mary Jane. Overall, the remixes do a great job of updating the tracks without being jarring. The remixes aren't as surprising as on some remix CD's, but the CD as a whole may be a more enjoyable listen. Tracks:
