Behringer today shared this sneak preview of their upcoming Roland TR-909 clone, the RD-909.
Details are still to come.
September 10, 2018, edited to add:
At Knobcon 2018, we talked with Behringer about their upcoming RD-909 drum machine, an updated clone of the classic Roland TR-909. Behringer was showing their initial 3D-printed model for the RD-909, which is used in the process of validating their design choices, and for testing out the ‘feel’ of the box. It has circuit boards in it – but they were not demoing it because the circuity and firmware are are still early in development. Behringer was showing the RD-909 to get feedback on their initial design.
I’m interested how they’ll maintain the feel of the real deal without violating Roland sample ROM copyrights.
I think it’s not a rom player. Analog instead.
The crash ride and hihat on the original 909 are digital samples.
Going to get this and every other Behringer clone lol…..in due time. The Behringer originals excite me the most like the Neutron.
P.S.
An attack knob for each of the toms would be amazing.
I just don’t get why call it 909. They could have called it whatever they wanted and get more credit for it if it sounds good
Because it’s a 909 clone and that’s what makes people buy it
This is obviously just an early mock-up. The programming interface is the same as the RD-808, not like a 909 at all. But I’m sure they will get it right in the end. Go Behringer! And yes – Bass drum tuning please.
I grew up on the 909 (Atari Teenage Riot and 90’s trance) so I want this bad.

badass looking gear indeed
lol, who needs this? the tr-8s blows it out of the water. even the tr-8, i´d guess. and in case you want something cheaper there´s already the boutique tr-09. *facepalm*
This is OK and http://www.factmag.com/2017/06/13/propellerhead-rebirth-ipad-discontinued-roland-ip-infringement/ is not ?
Roland does not tolerate http://www.factmag.com/2017/06/13/propellerhead-rebirth-ipad-discontinued-roland-ip-infringement and this and the RD808 are ok ?
