This video, via birdkids, is a demo of using their new °Grid controller with the free Audiokit Pro Synth One software synthesizer for iOS.

The video highlights the importance of incorporating physical expression into synthesis. Using the °Grid as a controller takes Synth One into CS-80 territory, because it lets you add a level of physical control not available on most synths.

In the demo, °Grid is controlling AudioKit Pro – Synth One via Bluetooth BLE.

  2. Cool to see multiple dimensions of control that are kind of intuitively physical.

    I’d miss having velocity for the initial attack– but I suppose a breath controller combined would be a nice way around that.

    I’m not sure how I’d get along with that grid note layout for faster phrases. Probably not well, but I expect that’s not what this is for.
