Sunday Synth Jam: This ‘folk ambient’ video, by psykheart, captures a live performance of a hymn by Edmund de Coussemaker, from 1856 (number 61 in the Finnish hymnbook).
Here’s what he shared about the technical details:
Appalachian dulcimer, Korg Monologue, Dreadbox Nyx v.1, Behringer Crave.
Nice change of pace, very well performed. Your video gave it added eerie flavor. I enjoy seeing instruments like the dulcimer pop up this way. Its a time-honored tradition to put weights on keys for held drones or chords. Your way is better than Keith Emerson doing it with knives.
Thanks for sharing my video! As a newcomer to the synth community I really appreciate it! -Daniel of Psykheart
Breathtaking. Literally my breath has been taken . I’ve been transported, you can find me in the forest if you can travel back in time. Wonderful video.
Love it. I have an electric hammered dulcimer and I also dabble in synths (just a few Volcas now) and thought I was the only mad scientist out there who enjoys the blending of ancient with modern.
Well done and let’s see more!
