Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures a live performance by Berlin-based techno artist and SchneidersLaden synth guru JakoJako.

In this episode of Fact Magazine’s Patch Notes, JakoJako records an live techno set from her home studio, using Elektron’s Octatrack, Analog Rytm and a Eurorack modular system.

“Depending on how you configure your system, you can design a completely different instrument every time,” she notes. “I love when it’s surprising me.”

  1. What are the musical differences between “Techno” and “Disco” and “EDM”? They all sound pretty much the same to me. Not identical. But much the same. Tempo, rhythm, compositional structure, etc. are usually pretty cookie-cutter stuff. Disco seems to have more changes and compositional variety than the others, but it doesn’t have much of that either.

  2. The transition in the middle pretty much sucked but the rest of it was nice, easy listening, not original but nevertheless ok.

  3. Dude, this artist freakin’ rocks! I usually in favor of trance far more than techno, however this piece seemed minimalist in the common redundancies and just pulled you in.
