Richard D. James, aka Aphex Twin has a new album on the way, according to Warp label founder Steve Beckett.
“We’re definitely going to be putting out a new album by him,” says Becket. “Hopefully it will be this year, if I can prise it out of his hands. It’s definitely on its way.”
“He’s got his own unique view on life and obviously he’s just a genius musician and artist and it’s brilliant to work with him,” added Beckett reflecting on his time with working the elusive artist.
“I don’t know a single note or anything about it,” adds Becket. “It will be as much of a surprise to me as anyone else. Basically I find out what it sounds like when we go into the mastering room and he puts it – well how it used to be, he’ll put the DAT player in and there it’ll be – so that’s the first time I’ll hear it. Then I’ll go onto my knees and thank him and then we’ll put it out.”
It’s probably safe to say that the new Aphex Twin album will be bizarre and disturbing – but also entirely original.

Hell Yeah!!! I love Aphex Twin! Too bad for my neighbor though, he hates Aphex Twin and he has a little tiny stereo and I have a 1300 watt PA in my living room. Oh well, I win the stereo war.

I’ve been waiting for this announcement for some time after rumors that AFX was The Tuss. :p
I love tha Aphex Twin tracks which combine catchy melodies with experimental production — like “Girl/Boy Song” among his masterworks. In his absence, others like Venetian Snares have gone to the extremes with microediting, and been far more prolific, too.
I hope to be deliciously surprised. Like RDJ gone Vin Diesel-bald and doing his own take on dubstep, or finally releasing an all piano album with acoustic grands, toy pianos, prepared piano, etc. Or Selected Ambient Works 3. Well, I can dream.
(I associate smores Pop Tarts with Aphex Twin because I used to watch “Come To Daddy”, Orbital’s “The Box”, and other classic vids on MTV while snacking in the late 90s.)

Thats like comparing preschoolers paintings to picasso. Or a drunk to a frytard…. I just hope he keeps on keepin on making whatever the hell he wants

Wow, the last few years he brings out few tracks and a new album will be an oasis to our ears… can’t wait! I’m sure he won’t disappoint us and I think that it’s worth waitng for 4 years…

RDJ probably makes enough money off his earlier albums. I doubt he cares whether or not he releases another album, and I really doubt that he would give a shit what people thought of any of his music, new or not.
