Sacred Bones Records has announced a new album from John Carpenter, with his Halloween collaborators Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter.
Firestarter is the soundtrack to a new 2022 adaptation of Stephen King’s classic story. The film, set for release on May 13, offers a new take on the story of a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers. This marks the first official soundtrack that the team has composed together outside of the Halloween franchise.
Here’s what the label has to say about the new album:
“The Firestarter soundtrack utilizes some of the best elements of Carpenter’s famous musical repertoire and charts exciting new territory. The tracks range from fist pumping sci-fi anthems to slow reverb drenched piano ballads and each utilizes a variety of sonic applications. Skulking beats, skittering synths, crushing guitars and an ever-lurking echo come together to create an album that is atmospheric and also deeply melodic, cohesive and eclectic. These three musicians are all working in the peak of their individual and collaborative creativity and this soundtrack further solidifies them as masters of the craft.”
Firestarter is available for pre-order now on vinyl, CD and tape.
Yes, sounds very interesting wonder what kinda state of the art gear & cutting edge stuff these guys are using They’ve probably got the best pedigree for soundtrack work that there is, along with the original soundtrack’s composer’s Tangerine Dream which begs the question: are there any correlations between the two that could be contemplated if at all folks¿?
Carpenter uses basic stuff. His last Halloween soundtrack was made with KORG rompler. Besides gear doesn’t matter what matter is talent.
Yeah well talent is a nice thing and pretty much a necessity when, Yes agreed you’re dealing with a korg rompler but may not have a studio full of gear, the latter of which JC does have access & has no issue at all with that just sayin’ dude
Korg Rompler’s sound amazing and cost nearly $5,000.
shudda got Tangerine Dream – tight asses
tD is the starterFire for this soundtrack & foremost the movie which are both much better than this latest offering(‘s) Remake’s are much tougher to follow & begin to best an original theme much less the film, than maybe say a sequel would be or actually could’ve been in this case folks
@Mel C: Agreed. As much as I like some Carpenter scores, this is basically 3 minutes repetitive “something”. The TD soundtrack is amazing in comparison:

Very repetitive for 3/4 of the track and than more repetitive all the way through
Mega disappointed
I like John’s work, so I’m interested, but I also can’t help but have TD’s track “Charly the Kid” running in my head. Its one of the band’s more happy, lyrical pieces. Powerful but nice.
