Encyclopedia of China reflects over 20 years of effort to record a wide range of Chinese instruments, and over 1,000 musicians contributed to the final product. The collection is designed to capture not just Chinese instruments, but for making the modern Chinese style of music, which also features a full symphony orchestra.

I was quite excited by this. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I really want to add a nice Koto or Zheng sound to my work.
Then I saw the price!
It really does sound awesome. And I’m sure it’ll be very valuable to people making a living out of scoring various media.
I think this is definitely more for the professional rather than a casual keys masher like myself!
Oh well, one can dream….
I can’t blame them for asking $999 for 20 years’ worth of serious work, but its definitely a pro composer specialty item in a big way. 11 TB uncompressed, ouch! Omnisphere is just a smidge away from a mere $500. I doubt that anyone else has gone so comprehensive, even in world music packages. I’ll take a stab at it and say Sound Magic isn’t marketing this to Ableton Lite users.

I had a vague hope that this was something done by the Chinese cultural ministry to be offered for free. Alas…
Still, sounds amazing, you can tell that a huge amount of work went into nearly 12TB of samples.
For 200,- per year (or 100,- EDU) you get access to the entire East West library.
Does it come with a dedicated SSD?
