Expressive E let us know that they’ve updated Imagine, their “acoustics-infused software synth”.
The update includes native compatibility with Silicon Macs (M1, M2…) and adds 40 new presets and instrument layers.
Along with this update, they’ve released 2 expansions. Dusk is focused on film scoring duties, while Nightdream is dedicated to EDM/Trap sounds.
See the Expressive E site for details.
I bought a copy but i almost never use it. I much prefer chromaphone’s simplicity, this is convoluted without any real reason.
And the vst crashes Ableton
Oh, that’s not good… I was just about to get it now especially because it’s on sale and finally AS native
What the hell were/are they thinking with this.
I’m a Chromaphone player as well. I’ve used it long enough to get some added feel for it. In my opinion, a physical modeling synth takes at least double the effort of a VA. I haven’t yet felt the need for a second one. It may happen, because the idea is being refined well.
I enjoyed the broad demo in this case, so its tempting. PM seems to work better as a synth when it has two engines, but with more, it’d become too chaotic. This one is a mere $89 at the moment, so it’d be an economical starting point. Chromaphone has a more immediate GUI, so weigh that the same as you would with any other synth.
The company that makes Osmose has a range of non MPE VST’s?!
Here’s the link. They’re still working on full Mac Silicon compatibility. Its mainly Imagine and several stringed instruments like cello. I’m keen on the cello, so I’ll be following their progress. BTW, Imagine is $83.40, not $89. Oops!
