    1. The bigger problem is electronic musicians that can’t tell their dick apart from their shit. Gear being used a solution instead of creative use is where the problem lies. The amount of gear is staggering, yet the music being made with it has become uninspired as all hell.

    2. Whether they are overrated or not is completely beside the point – and a poorly constructed and futile argument

They were there at the beginning of Eurorack

Doepfer may have started it but Tony, Make Noise and a few other brands (Harvestman, Intellijel…etc.) were instrumental in how popular it has become today

They are highly rated because they have been around for a long time, have made good gear, participated in the community and have developed a good reputation as a trusted brand as a result

Saying they are overrated without making any attempt to consider any of this is just lazy and misinformed

      1. Agree 100%.

I’d add Plan B. There are a lot of companies that have failed over the years, but were still important to making Eurorack a standard. Plan B is one.

    3. Why would one „rate“ music gear manufacturers in the first place? They make tools to produce music. Either you use them to make your music, or you don’t. This is not a popularity contest, it’s about getting the job done.

  1. Make Noise was my first dip into modular, and their helpful videos before everyone had modular videos were so informative (including James Ciglers videos) in an otherwise cryptic time circa 2013/14/15. Thanks for the welcome introduction, and playful spirit!

Noobs that rank companies based on price along put parasites like Behringer at the top.

People that have experience with companies elevating the modular synth community, making reliable modules and actually innovating are going to put companies like Make Noise, Doepfer, Moog and Mutable Instruments at the top.
