MU-format synth maker Synthesizers.com has announced that a selection of its modules is now for free in VCV Rack, a popular virtual modular synth platform.
“We’re excited to share that we’ve partnered with Vult to bring 22 of our Synthesizers.com modules to VCV Rack,” they said. “These virtual modules are completely free to download, so you can patch all you want, all from the comfort of your computer.”
The selection of modules includes the modules needed to create a complete synth voice, along with a step sequencer and some of the company’s more advanced modules, like the Gate Math.
The intro video by synthesist Omri Cohen, embedded above, offers a beginner-friendly intro to using the modules. Topics covered include:
00:00 – Introduction
00:25 – Subtractive voice
05:35 – Sequencer
10:54 – Sequential switch
13:46 – Wave splicing
17:15 – PWM with a clipper
20:19 – Fixed filter bank
23:17 – Polyphony
The VCV modules were developed by Dr. Leonardo Laguna Ruiz (Vult), who has an excellent post at his site detailing the process.
The Synthesizers.com VCV modules are available now as free downloads. You can find out more about Synthesizers.com’s hardware modules at their site.
VCV is amazing, i’m amazed that these companies can do this for free, thank you VCV and Synthesizers.com!
This is so cool! 5u in vcv rack.
Not quite the same experience as twiddling knobs, but it sounds good!
So does this mean that VCV can do 5U modules now? Is anybody else besides Synthesizers.com doing this?
VCV Rack has been having CV and audio conversations with my actual 5U modules for awhile. These virtual ones are a really great addition.
