  1. I just watched the YouTube teaser and boy I am confused. Tony Hawk and some other skateboard people. Kraftwerk being mysterious as always. WTF is a “multimedia tour”? Is Ralf and company going to perform live??

  2. How about a NEW album, KRAFTWERK?
One OG member left & 3 newer band members…and all 4 can’t come up with NEW material?
Whilst I revere all that this most influential band has produced over the years, I feel like they are just a ‘greatest hits’ touring band now, living off their pioneering days.
Having been to several KRAFTWERK shows/tours over the years, I often wonder what possible musical ideas could be realised using the newest members abilities/skills. in fact I hunger for it! Until then, I won’t be buying tickets for new tours until they do write NEW material.
As for the skateboard PROMO, what the hell are they thinking…still stuck in the 70’s?

    1. > As for the skateboard PROMO, what the hell are they thinking…still stuck in the 70’s?

And yet you want to hear what other ideas they have up their sleeve?

    2. The thing with a band like Kraftwerk, or any other big popular band, is that you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.
Yes, they have new members and they could do something new. However, would that alienate or antagonise existing fans who are expecting more of the same, but different?
There’s also the fear of being called sell outs, or some other better word that I can’t think of right now, if they deviate from what’s expected.
But then if they release something that’s too similar to their back catalogue then they run the risk of being called boring, or stuck in the past.
I think that’s why a lot bands drift apart and members go a separate route to change up their style without the pressure of being in whatever band.
All that said, I love their Autobahn and Computer World albums. They’re both completely different to each other, whilst sharing the same DNA.
I would like them to do new stuff, but fear it will never match what they’ve already done.

  3. I don’t need any new material from them. I saw them about twenty years ago, and it was essentially a greatist hits show then. And why not? Their back catalog is full of epic material, and the visuals were stunning. Even when it wasn’t clear if I was looking at band members in costume or automated robots, it was still incredible.

BUT now, most of the originals are gone. If the guys are on stage, they’re replacements. That’s the whole reason I wouldn’t go. They’re like a cover band now, IMO.

  4. I want to see them out front playing their stylophones, TI Translators, mini keyboards like they did for Pocket Calculator in the early 80s. I’ve seen their 3-D video wall a few too many times now.

  5. Personally, I’ve never really gotten into Kraftwerk… I like a few of their songs, but to me, the 4 guys standing motionless behind their laptops schtick doesn’t impress me and seems like a really boring performance original members or not.

    ooh i know… blasphemy

  6. ‘Numbers’ is still a deadly track. It’s over 40 years old but you could drop it in a DJ set today and nobody would realise otherwise.

Props to the stunning Francois K remix of Tour De France. That still holds up as well.
