It looks like a new synth is on the way from Ashun Sound Machines (ASM), makers of the Hydrasynth.
Their parent company, MEDELI Electronics, has applied for a US patent for the name ‘Leviasynth’.
They’ve applied to use this with the following goods and services:
Pianos; Electronic musical instruments; Electronic pianos; Keyboard instruments; Keyboards for musical instruments; Music synthesizers; Musical instruments; Percussion instruments; Piano keyboards; Stringed musical instruments; Tuners for musical instruments; Wind instruments; Digital pianos; Music synthesizer for making drum sounds
The status of the request is Pending.
They’ve also registered ‘Leviasynth’ as a trademark within the European Union, in the category of Musical Instrument Products.
MEDELI Electronics has previously registered ‘Ashun’, ‘Hydrasynth’ and ‘Polytouch’.
The ASM Hydrasynth, above, was introduced in 2019, and was one of the most audacious debuts for a new company in recent memory. The Hydrasynth pairs a massively deep sound engine with a keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch, and an interface that offers lots of real time synthesis control.
The Hydrasynth was an immediate hit, and ASM has followed it up with three variations – the Hydrasynth Desktop, Hydrasynth Explorer, and Hydrasynth Deluxe – delivering the same powerful synth engine in designs ranging from entry-level to flagship.
Ashun has not made any announcement related to the Leviasynth yet, so it will be interesting if they’ve got something new to show at the 2025 NAMM Show. We’ll share official details if and when they become available.

No idea what they might be introducing, but you know it’s going to be killer.
The Hydrasynth is the most innovative synth introduced in years, and it’s a bargain for what it offers, too.
Seriously couldn’t be happier with the Hydra. Levia means to join, I wonder if it’s something that will be used together with the Hydra, rather than a full new keybed situation.
I am hoping for HydraDrum. If it’s anything like my Hydrasynth it will be amazing,
I suspect that this is an 9-part multitimbral Hydra rather than something never seen before. That might seem boring to some, but why mess with success – almost everyone loves the Hydrasynth and a properly multitimbral version will sell well for sure.
Yeah I’m hoping for a multitimbral workstation with drums and sequencer.
Hope you’re onto something there, going multitimbral works with the name ‘Levia’. 9 parts seems excessive though, just give me parts with stereo outs & I’ll be stoked.
*4 parts with stereo…
That’s a typo, I meant 8 part multitimbral. Even 4 would be good I guess, but a name like Leviathan makes me imagine a big number like 8 or 16. It’d be really cool if they went down the Waldorf Q route and gave it a big number of knobs for the major function groups as well as their excellent editing system.
I really want a Hydrasynth, they look and sound so fun to program. But I have to do a lot of travel this year, there’s only so much gear you can carry at once XD
I’d love to see them do a balls-to-the-wall expressive analog synth.
Their keyboard and UI design are great, and the Hydrasynthcan do just about anything I’d want on the digital side.
What does the word Leviathan mean? The name Leviathan comes from the Hebrew Livyatan, which comes from a root that means “to twist, turn, wind, or coil.” Today the name is often used to refer generally to a sea monster or to any gigantic powerful thing.
Maybe it’ll be a new synth with more LFO than you can shake a stick at or tons of modulators and destination possibilities….and hopefully a sequerncer of some kind. Thats the only reason i sold my hydrasynth, I loved it but i love sequencing even more so i got as polybrute a few months after selling it.
I want that 3osc engine in eurorack.
The Hydrasynth is _still_ one of the coolest, most expressive synthesizers available. I’d be interested to see this interface applied to different sound engines: like sampling and granular synthesis, or physical modeling. I’m not convinced we need another ROMpler workstation, but it would be wonderful to have Polytouch on a weighted piano-style keyboard.
