The Black Dog has announced that their latest album, Music For Real Airports, will be a musical comeback to Brian Eno’s seminal ambient release, Music For Airports.
Music For Real Airports combines new music with segments from over 200 hours of field recordings from airports in an effort to explore the ideas and associations that people have with them.
“Some members of The Black Dog were disappointed by Eno’s treatment of the subject in 1979 and have been considering how to produce a more meaningful response ever since,” according to The Black Dog. “Airports have some of the glossiest surfaces in modern culture, but the fear underneath remains.”
They go on to give Eno a swift kick in the cajones, saying “Unlike Eno’s Music for Airports, this is not a record to be used by airport authorities to lull their customers.”
Soma Records will release Music For Real Airports on May 10th, 2010.
Do you think that it’s time for a new take on Music For Airports? Certainly our perspective on air travel has changed…..

The Eno Airports album title is NOT LITERAL YOU MORONS!!
It is meant to summon places that you think you have been without resorting to field recording and sampling or naming the exact location.
Are these guys mentally challenged, willfully ignorant , or just born yesterday?
Wait, is this Plaid?
what a group of complete morons. not only are they without their own creative ideas. they are trying to ripoff some publicity by tearing down Eno. the concept and the invention at the time was beyond that time periods exploration. to have a bunch of morons come in and update something that was done 30 years ago is pretty pathetic. not only do they lack creativity, they also are twisted with warranted hate towards Eno. lets throw a few more 3d computer aided graphics on all the classical paintings because they just don't fit the times. here's an idea, how about come up with your own idea. morons.

i have to admit, that does seem to be bad form on their parts… bad black dog! bad!!! lol
No treat for Black Dog!
I think Stockhausen said it best: Some try to define themselves by negating others. Does M4RA come with a full body scan?
Hey you guys, remember that time when we didn't have anything to contribute to arts or music so we attempted to boost our self esteems by taking a toddler's swipe at Brian Eno… Oh, nvm, that was some group of morons called the black dog….
Meanwhile- I am waiting with baited breath for "After Before and After Science"
I simply yawn at these type of statements, pretentious and arrogant. However this kind of behaviour often says little about the quality of the output of such groups. Regardless of their Faux pas it will probably be worth a listen.
I'm with the Black Dog on this one. Airports are much more culturally relevant now than they were in 1979, they're transition zones of the global community full of hope and danger. Eno's antiseptic, somnambulant vision no longer applies

black dog morons. it was a set of ideal albums. eno has pushed music and art as a whole forward tremendously. you dont mess with the eno…
this is like someone saying, monet's Impression, Sunrise sucked and doesnt cut it anymore because we have laser printers.

I expect their next album to be "The REAL Halleluja Chorus." Or, "Music For REALLY Royal Fireworks." Maybe "Mary Had A Real Small Lamb."
this is more like "music from airports".
eno's original is a masterpiece. these people are just being imbeciles for attention.

"Yet Another Green World."
I heard that The Black Dog said that Beethoven's 9th lacked a good beat and lyrics and are making their own version as we speak.

I might have given this a listen if these guys didn't come across as complete douches.

It's just an homage people. just disguised as a reference/dis. No doubt done in good jest. Black dog are quite good, and have been around for quite sometime. Also, the original, and i'm sure Eno would agree with me on this, is a fucking snooze fest. Zzzzzzzz ~ Huh!? Was the last half hour just one long pad?

"Taking Tiger Mountain by a Slightly Different Strategy"
TBD got sh1t when 3 became 1
"Here Come Some Other Warm Jets"
HAR HAR HAR. It's been awhile I've heard mention of Black Dog since early 90s "IDM" (Plaid not included). Some of Eno's own quotes are no less spicy. Now fetch me my copy of Artificial Intelligence and call Greg Clow!
While we're at it, let's get a response to Jarre's Music For Supermarkets. I think lowercase already has Music For Libraries covered, tho.

Yer kinda new around here, huh, stranger? Lurk around awhile and you'll see how a 'sense of humour' works. Meanwhile, go in peace.
wow, what a little hotbed of hatred i have stumbled upon here. a whole nest of nerds spewing poisonous and vitriolic bile across the internets. the black dog must be doing something right, if they can annoy so many of you all at once. LOL. morons.

I like a lot of Eno's work but his 'Airport' ambient work was very boring….
Pearl is his best work i think
Black Dog have done a great album with this work!!
or the new collaboration for when trilogies aren't enough: 'High'
"Music For Films You Don't Want To See"
Eno is completely overrated.
Try Jon Hassel, Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, etc. for early electronic sounds.
