He's created a new genre!! Funny how poor black dudes from Detroit started this shit with 303s etc. because that's what they could get their hands on and now rich white boys are posting videos of themselves 20 years later like they're doing something new. Thanks for moving music forward and pushing the envelope. Go fuck yourself.

Funny how poor black dudes from Detroit got their hands on whatever they could to create a new genre and now rich white dudes post videos of their $5000 x0x collection like their doing something new and inventive. hi totalrecall,
would you kindly kill yourself, or at the very least post some of your music so we can all critique it? ummm. you do make music, right? perfect music, right?
I'm with recall on this, shit is weak sauce.

No, my music isn't perfect and you have most likely already critiqued it. I am making a point and you are not. I'd like to see more people move music forward…that's all. If you really thought about what I wrote it is fairly accurate. We've got so much technology and we've become slaves to it. Why does every demonstration I see of the monome pretty much sound the same ? The monome is a great device but I guess it is cooler to have one and get a tattoo of one then actually do something brilliant with it. And yes 20 years these Roland boxes have been in existence and people continue to do the same thing with them and in this case not even well. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion but I won't be killing myself but maybe you should live yourself.

Snarky tone, but I totally agree with you. This sounds a lot like every other best of techno/hardfloor collection from my raving days. It's not terrible and he's good at juggling those xox boxes, but it's hardly ground breaking. Not that I wouldn't want some of the "power 9" Roland gear, just not sure it's all that original any more. Sort of like the techno equivalent of Skynard and Zepplin covers.

I'm quite alive… and though i don't want to turn this into a pissing contest, I can assure you that I have spent the majority of my life trying to push music forward. Trust me on that one.
My point is this:
1. "The critic is to the artist as the birdwatcher is to the birds"… unless the critic is really mean-spirited.
2. Zappa wrote "the black page", arguably the most complex piece of music ever written, but he still liked to play the 12 bar blues.
3. Expend any creative energy (as I'm doing now), and you displace it from your own art.
These ideas, aside from mutual regard for others and their god-given right to create, are the most important reasons to go make your own music instead of critiquing the art of others, especially in a public forum.
When the platform of this critic is as high or higher that the stage the artist stands on (as it is on the internet), we run the risk of intimidating everyone from expressing their thoughts, ideas, and force them to stay inside the gates of conformity (lest you be judged harshly for getting nostalgic). Should we burn books & 808's?
Sure, OK, whatever. Shoot the messenger, fine by me.
Or maybe, just maybe… try to remember what you did on 18Apr10.
Did you make music and share it with the world… or did you just shoot down the guy who did.
Welcome to Earth 2.0, the reality show.
Everyone gets to be Simon Cowell for 15 minutes.
Sad.

Lol … Got my tb-303 at Pyrmid Guitars on Grand River for $75 back in the late 80's and used to work on tracks with my room mate and his Juno106. (who would give 'em to Richie Rich Hawtin so we'd get into the warehouse shows for free). Sold the 303 to a guy in Detroit busting the riffs … now that I'm a rich white guy I'm buying back my gear and making tracks again because it's fun. Yeah, maybe the kids nowadays like dubbing with some LFO bass tweaks … but Techno still is FUN. keep the vids coming
