Brian Rimmer put together this awesome montage of the history of Ron Grainer’s Doctor Who theme. The video collects every version of the titles & theme music 1963 – 2010 (including Matt Smith’s opening credits)!
The history of Dr. Who themes captures a cross-section of electronic music history – and also demonstrates the enduring power of Delia Derbyshire’s original 1693 arrangement.

1693 arrangement? :]
Well, this /is/ about a timelord afterall… 😉
As somebody who was watching in 1963 and still enjoys it (though much of the 1970s and 1980s were crap), I would say 1 and 11/12. However, the important thing is that they are all better than Orbital.
Incidentally, I have never forgiven the Radiophonic Workshop for the crap that they churned out of the 'Delaware'. (3) is a horrible reminder.
1963 holds up well, but I like the new version, too. The late 70's & 80's ones, though, don't hold up as well!
The one at 2:07 + the one right after, those are the best ones IMO.
Could someone give me a quick synopsis of the show? What is it about? I don't think I've ever seen it but I do like the theme song. Catchy bugger.
Which is a bit of a comment on the style of music from those eras
