This is another video preview of Konkreet Performer for iPad – a new “visual OSC controller and visualizer” for your DAW / Synth / Drum Machine / Sampler etc. The developers are trying to create an elegant music controller that also interactively creates visuals.
ANR has an interesting writeup on Konkreet Performer.
Highlights:
- It’s a pure controller, no onboard sounds;
- it uses OSC (through Osculator), but it may support MIDI too ;
- there can be up to 10 nodes to control; each node is sending distance and angle values, but you can send also X and Y values, up to 4 parameters can be associated with a note;
- when designing it, they didn’t want the Konkreet Performer to resemble a traditional notes-based controller; and
- the video output comes from an app running on a computer, to save resources.
Konkreet Performer is expected to be released in January.
