Roland’s new Jupiter 80 synth has been met with a great deal of resistance from synth fans over the use of the ‘Jupiter’ name.
While the new ’80 may be a monster synth on its own, the Jupiter 8 holds a special place, in the minds of synthesists, as one of the great polyphonic analog synthesizers.
Here TheSynthFreq offers her take on the Roland Jupiter 8 – a classic 8 voice polyphonic analog synth from 1981. She calls it “The most beautiful synth ever.”
Note: Head-spinning Bourne-o-vision camera work on this one!
I can't hear a single word she is saying. It's a great synth tho
She was born or developed some sort of hearing deficiency, thus the speech impediment.
Ah. Now I feel stupid.
Havent been to SynthFreq for some time. Great that girls got Jupiter-8 – they certainly know what to do with it.
As with most beautiful synth ever – it may be not far from the truth – Roland design at that time was at it's peak.
BTW, does anyboty know anything about designers who worked on Jupiter, TR-Series and Juno looks?
Great question – if any readers know about the designers who worked on the "look" of classic Roland gear like the Jupiter-8 or TR series devices, leave a comment!
As to 'The Most Beautiful Synth Ever’ claim – there are a lot of other hot synths to consider……
TheSynthFreq is awesome! This synth is well played, and well loved in her hands. Thanks for the vid.
Beautiful, yes… but I'll still take a Jupiter-6 with the Europa mod any day…
"Yo Jupiter-80, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Jupiter-8 is the most beautiful synth of all time!"
I always thought the design of the Rolands were SHIT. They looked like toys compared to Korg, Moog, and the Prophet.
Look at the pretty colours, dear!
lol.
Thanks for increasing the net positivity in the world, Rainbow Brite.
