The Bob Moog Foundation – a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of Bob Moog’s legacy – has shared a great series of videos looking at the foundations of synthesis.
The video series, created in conjunction with MacProVideo, features BMF’s Marc Doty. Doty is the Archive and Educational Specialist at the Bob Moog Foundation, but readers will probably be more familiar to him as the rock star of synth education on YouTube. There, Doty’s AutomaticGainsay series of synth videos has racked up nearly 5 million views.
In the series, Doty introduces some basic concepts of synthesis and discusses some key instruments in the history of synthesis. In later videos, he digs into the key elements of classic analog synthesis, oscillators, filters, amplifiers and using control voltage.
