This is a quick test of the Mini Pyramid Synth, created by thenervoussquirrel:
This was commissioned by Jay Gambit, after seeing the larger pyramid designed by Pete Fowler, commissioned by XL Recordings for The Horrors. This unit contains a MFOS phaser and WSG.
The electronics are based on circuits from Ray Wilson’s Music From Outer Space.
Very cool design. Nice use of EL, too. The audio sounds nice, I know from experience the EL drivers can get very noisy, and generally need to be well isolated from audio lines!
Nice website, Brendan. Where did you gather your know-how to go about building your own midi controllers? I have a PIC and a Raspberry Pi knocking about at home and would like to give it a go.
Also, I just myself discovered the Music From Outer Space site a few months back and love the thought of building one of the ‘starters synths’.
…I don’t think this summer is going to be long enough.
Impressive project! Even if the lights are for show, they’re very cool.
Just as I suspected! A pyramid scheme
