This video, viaย Keith McMillen Instruments, documents the unofficial ‘QuNexus Quality Assurance Test’, which involves running the QuNexus over with a car, hosing it down with water and dropping it out of a 2nd story windows, strapped to the bottom of a watermelon.
See the KMI site for more info on the QuNexus.
Now i wanna see the subaru outback dropped off a building and getting ran over by a midi controller…you have 5 minutes
Yep I beat the crap out of six guys with my Qunexus. Lol
Just curious about the quality/built of the usb input on the Qnexus. I think it’s micro usb which is really small and I had bad experience with mini usb input cracking of the pcb of my AKAI mini MPK 25.
I wonder if there’s any other MIDI controller that could survive all that!
I’ll be having a couple of those please!
That watermelon looked tasty.
What was that we were saying about flimsy builds a while back? What a total reversal on that! Nice. I sympathize about mini-connectors in general; they’re unnerving. This might be harder to manage on a little fella like the QuNexus, but I made a strain-relief loop for the USB cable on my main controller and vinyl-taped the sucker down hard. USB barrels slide loose too easily overall, but this stays plugged in readily and suits my work flow. I don’t mind safety-kluging a bit to have such lively tools. I wouldn’t feel like a real synth he-man if I DIDN’T have to stand on my head once in a while. ๐
If they could do one last test… shoot it out of a cannon… i would blown away!
Hi All,
Matt @ KMI here– glad you like the video!
As far as micro vs mini usb, we went with micro because of durability and size. Micro, while being smaller, is also a fair amount more durable than mini and allows for more connects.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Well, crap. now I have to save up for a 30 lb watermelon, too. Looks so delicious.
And thanks for the demo Matt ๐
move over m-audio keystation 32 and akai lpk25! all the basic things aside, it really boils down to durability. had a keystation, it was really nice… was. now i’m being extra careful with an lpk25…
yes but will it blend?
also when will it get to the europe suppliers?
