This video, via GAK, takes a look at the new Novation Bass Station 2:
Based on the classic Novation BassStation from 20 years ago, Bass Station II has been completely re-worked for the 21st century, with two filters, three oscillators, patch save and a fully-analogue effects section.
Plus there’s a step sequencer, arpeggiator, a two octave (25-note) velocity-sensitive keyboard with full-sized keys and a powerful modulation section. There’s even MIDI I/O and USB connectivity.
If you’ve tried the Bass Station 2, let us know what you think of it!
On my “To Buy” list. Though I’m still waiting on my MS-20 mini. LOL
it sounds a bit thin and weedy to me compared to the moog, and rather dull, out of all new mono’s only the MS 20 and subphatty make me hard
Agreed about the sound, but I would add to your list the Waldorf Rocket, which sounds fantastic and offers much more than meets the eye at first glance.
Around the time the MS-20mini and the Minibrute were launching the initial impression I had of the Basstation was obviously it played the weakest contender among the 3. I have yet to physically play one along with the MS-20 but the Minibrute is built like a tank and like Boris “the blade” once said… “Heavy means quality, if you run out of bullets you can just throw it at them” Nothing invokes searing white hot rage then attempting to press a button on something cheaply built and the force it takes to suppers said button is greater then the mount of force it takes to move the entire object. Thats a good sign you have a pile of crap in front of you. Good day.
Sequential circuits pro one synth’s build quality was notoriously cheap. Yet is one of the best, most powerful mono synths you will ever play. I’m afraid Boris ‘the blade’s heavy means quality’ theory doesn’t really cut it!
I was fooled by Novations advertising when the first one came out , bass station one.It sounded fuck all like a 303.
I have a novation Ks Rack, and I love the machine, The bass station one, provided some great sounds and was well used. If they make a rack version I would be very interested in one. I would not part with my Novation KS Rack. I am about to do a gig in Germany, that synth as old as it is,will be making the journey. It is an overlooked synthesizer one I would like two of ]I hope Novation make more synthesizers , rather than controllers for the lap top and I pad brigade.
Novation make a rack , but with deeper knobs on.
The background noise was really distracting >_<
