Developer Giel Bremmers has released MultitrackStudio for iPad – an audio/MIDI multitrack recording app. Both audio and MIDI tracks can be edited. MIDI editing features include pianoroll, drum and score editors.

- Editors: audio, pianoroll, drum, score, MIDI controllers, timesig/tempo and song.
- One effect return section.
- One master section.
- Three effect slots per mixer section (two for MIDI tracks).

- Imports .wav, .aif, .mp3, .mid and various other audio file types.
- Exports .wav and .mid files
- Exports .zip file containing all files needed to open song in MultitrackStudio for Windows/OS X.
The developer notes that MultitrackStudio for iPad does NOT currently support Bluetooth audio devices, AudioCopy, AudioBus or inter-app audio.

Not sure why you’d ship in this case, as those (other than Bluetooth) seem like baseline requirements these days. Let me know when this is fixed, and I’ll get it…
Because it’s a great mobile option for users of the app on Windows or Mac?
Seems a bit limited scope for customers because no one else will really want it except those who have the PC/Mac version as well.
Seems like a win for existing users and if it makes money they can add features that new users would want?
Last time I checked, there weren’t many MIDI sequence editors for iPad. Garageband & Genome are the biggies, but they have some limitations. Auria is an amazing audio environment, but no MIDI sequencing (and relatively expensive).
One advantage I see with the MultiTrack Studio app (based on the description) is the ability to import and export MIDI & audio files (via iTunes). However, the website, description & manual don’t give nearly enough info for me to make a decision on it.

Cubasis does a great job mixing audio and MIDI tracks, and has Audiobus, IAA, and a ton of other connectivity options. I picked up up for 50% off during their last sale and it’s terrific.
What different time signatures does Cubasis support? Does it let you change time signatures mid-song?
It’s true that I can’t think of any other iOS daws that support odd time sigs and changes in time sig but it does seem that aside from this (quite niche,IMO) feature, for quite an expensive app this is missing a lot of functionality that some people would consider a basic requirement these days.
Cubasis, beatmaker 2, nanostudio, and others I’m probably not aware of can all open and edit midi and mostly without having to use iTunes to get the data in and out.
Could it be? Finally a decent “MIDI” sequencer for real outboard gear?
Meteor Multitrack does Audiocopy, AUdiobus and inter app audio.
if anyone’s bought it yet, can you easily enter triplets and is there any swing/shuffle/groove setting? two things that seem to be common omissions for ipad daws
