VirSyn has released microTera for iPad – a waveshaping synthesizer.
Waveshaping Synthesis is a type of distortion synthesis that can create dynamic spectra in a controlled way. In waveshaping, it is possible to change the spectrum with the amplitude of the sound. A simple example of this method is the clipping caused by overdriving an audio amplifier.
microTera supports key technologies for iOS users, including AudioBus, Inter-App Audio & CoreMIDI.
Here’s a demo of microTera in action:

If you’ve used microTera, let us know what you think of it!
Bought this this morning, and had a quick test before bedtime (nightwatch 😉 ). It seems like a classic Virsyn synth. It has the long versatile envelopes as Cube Synth, and the sounds sounds good. Very much the same setup as the Cube Synth.
Personally, I really enjoy Virsyn’s synth. Have used Addictive synth several times, and will be using both this and Cube Synth in the future.
Only thing I wish they’d implement, is a bpm down to 1. With such long evolving envelopes, you could make som killer evolving arp pads. But then 40 bpm as a minimum is to high.
Does anyone know whether this is the same as – or an iPad port of – the PC/Mac version that was given away with some cover disks back in 2003 I think it was (I could have the year wrong)? Does anyone know whether that desktop version is also still available – and whether it’s free? Can’t see it over at KVR’s link anymore.
Virsyn does have their very own site! Tera 3 is 169 euros, and miniTera is 59 euros.
You are correct. I did not see that. Appreciated. Not sure why there was a -1 above. Odd. NM.
Thanks for the info.
There’s a -1 because you don’t have an answer for something…and it isn’t smart-alecky or condescending.
Huh? Why is asking a question “bad” ? Genuine question.
Please don’t make bad 303 sounds with this.
Too late, already done! 🙁
Compared to the likes of z3ta and ipolysix, this is rubbish and not worth the money… I will not purchase any more from virsyn again…. Lacks quality compared to other better quality apps.
