At Musikmesse 2014, Nick Batt of Sonic State caught up with Dirk (?), a patch designer for Waldorf and now Schmidt, and got his thoughts on the Schmidt Analog Synthesizer.
He talks about programming patches on the Schmidt and playing the huge analog beast.
I can’t imagine lugging this thin up and down stairs. At least it would be worth it!
Sounded like his name was ‘Dude’ to me.. Does kind of look a bit like the guy from The Big Lebowski actually!
Reminds me of the bad guy from True Detective…
@4:17 “Whoa what’s fucks going on wit ze dual filter?”
Definitely want to hear more out of the Schmidt; totally capable of some amazing subtle stuff. Somehow feels a little relegated to muscle flexing sounds to justify its price point.
LESS TALK. MORE PATCHES.
I thought I heard a Mellotron there in the background and then there it was :]
Milk, eggs, cornflakes, schmidt, bacon, apples……
would look nice in my livingroom…
Every time they showed a sweeping shot of the entire synth I went “Holy fuck!”.
Great sounds from the Mellotron in the background. Is that a rack version as well?
