Developer Maurizio De Cecco has released MidiBlob i- a performance oriented multi touch controller for the Waldorf Blofeld synthesizer.
The app provides a new 3D interface for controlling patches on the Blofeld.
Here’s what he has to say about MidiBlob:
MidiBlob is a plug and play performance oriented multi touch controller for your Blofeld synthesizer.
By manipulating a 3D scene (the Blob) with a set of very intuitive interaction MidiBlob can modify and control your synth sound to a depth that cannot be reached with traditional controllers.
Filters, envelopes, modulations, wave characteristics are under direct control of your fingers, the iPad become an extension of your instrument. No configuration needed.
Here are a couple of video demos of MidiBlog in action:

This video is a demo of the MidiBlob for the Blofeld App on a arpeggiator-based Blofeld patch. The right hand plays the keyboard, not visible in the video, while the left hand uses MidiBlob on the iPad to ‘play’ the sound.
In the second video, below, the MidiBlob is used to interactively transform a lead sound, being played on a traditional keyboard:

MidiBlob works with any Core MIDI compatible interface or with a network based Core MIDI connection, and it is an iPad application. It runs on iOs 6.x and 7.x.
MidiBlob is available in the App Store for US $4.99.
If you’ve used MidiBlob, let us know what you think of it!
I’d like to see Jordan Rudess get blobby with this
I’m really not sure how this works, what blob controls what or is it random. Anyone any insight?
hi Baddcr, have you checked the MidiBlob (maulabs) website? There you can get an idea of how to control what with MidiBlob.

Kind of neither. It’s not like a specific sphere is mapped to a specific parameter.
Check out his site for more explanation…
Stay away you blob thing.
Interesting, will do, cheers Zymos 🙂
I’ve been a MIDI blob since long before this came along. Being on here is part of it. You too, admit it.
I just released an small update of MidiBlob for the Blofeld; it add a new SF-like graphic theme, and settings to control the sensitivity to finger movements. Also a new, nicer, web site is online, with a FAQ section for support.

Just released version 1.1.1: it simplify the initial synchronisation with the Blofeld by suppressing the somehow unreliable two fingers double tap and moving the function to a dedicated button. It also shows the loaded patch name in the title bar, so you know what is going on.
And stay tuned for iOS8 specific version 2 !
Maurizio
Just release version 2. Major version, with more functionalities, multiple blobs, in application settings, and so on … check it out on the web site. Rocket, Mopho and NordLead A1 versions coming …
