- Third oscillator and noise generator
- 8x Unison = up to 520 oscillators per note
- 16 voices of polyphony = up to 8320 oscillators total
- Zero-delay feedback filters
- Four graphical envelopes (MSEG)
- Modulation matrix for synth and FX parameters
- Two Master FX busses with 9 high-quality effects each
- Innovative Arpeggiator with MIDI file import
Here are a couple of audio demos for Dune 2:
Note: Dune 2 is not compatible with Dune 1 in any way. Both run just fine in parallel, however.
Dune 2 is priced at US $169. A demo version is available. See the Synapse site for details.

UM i think iam gonna get this like right now!
I’m holding out for Dune 3, because 520 oscillators per note is note nearly enough.
I’m holding out for Synthtopia 2.0, which will allow me to edit my typos.
With 520 oscillators they should think of adding additive synthesis. Seriously. There hasn’t been anything like that since the Kurzweil K150. There are Razor and Blade (really, Rob Papen couldn’t think up a more unique name after Native Instruments?) Razor boasts 320 oscillators. Blade I don’t have. Still, hundreds of simulated oscillators still can’t recreate the work of real physical oscillators any more than a flight simulator is exactly like flying a real airplane.
not impressed at all
I have been testing Dune2 all day and I must say I am impressed. those who like sound design must love this wonderful instrument.
Wow, 1995 revival!
Only about the sound and timbre quality: Dune 2, Novation Ultra Nova or Virus TI??
If it wasn’t so darn expensive id buy it instantly sounds lush
