Synthmania has introduced a new software editor, for Mac & Windows, for the Novation Bass Station 2 synthesizer.
Here’s what they have to say about it:
Since release in 2013 the Novation Bass Station 2 becomes one of the best monophonic synthesizers. But till today, there was no nice looking and perfect working editor available.
The editor can be used as Standalone and VST version for Windows 32/64 Bit and MAC OSX (tested with OSX 10.9; AU 32Bit for testing purposes only. The AU is not compatible with LOGIC PRO X). The included AU runs only with Logic 9 Pro, Logic 9 Express.
Most of the parameters are implemented and you can change these within your DAW. Be sure you´ll have a lot of more fun with the editor. One of its feature is, that you can record every movement of the knobs. Optimized for a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 px.
Here’s a video demo of the Editor in action:
The Novation Bass Station 2 Editor is available for now for 15,00 Euros. A demo version is also available.
Nice! The BS2 is a great sounding synth and having an editor makes integration within a DAW a lot easier. I haven’t had a chance to test this yet, hopefully patch management and recall is included.

The Bass Station is such a well laid out synth, with zero menus – why would you ever need an editor?
DAW integration and parameter automation
@Scott
Patch recall and automation.
but… can’t you do all that from a DAW with MIDI anyways?..
How about simultaneously seeing the settings for both oscillators and both envelopes…
The BSII has a ton of real-time control, but some parameters are dual controls, along with the semi-hidden key functions. If you pull up a nice sounding preset, there’s no quick way to figure out exactly what’s going on. This editor solves that.
But I don’t see controls for:
Limiter
Input Gain (input gain is a separate parameter from the mixer level)
Tune (should be in master section)
Seq Retrigger
Mod Wheel assignment and level (filter, LFO1 to pitch, LFO 2 to filter, Osc 2 pitch)
Pitch Wheel Bend range
I don’t understand the down vote brigade. This comment is true, some parameters with 256 steps or more use 2 CC values. Others use NPRN. Ableton won’t work with those without some sort of editor to translate.
I just tested it and it appears to just be using Ctrl. Since it is here is a link to a free Ctrl panel for the BS2.

Kind of dissapointed this new editor uses Ctrl though. It has issues routing midi in Bitwig, and is generally sort of buggy.
That´s not true…the editor works in Bitwig Studio. And what is generally buggy? Why do you post something like that? Maybe you don´t know how to setup Bitwig…

I’ve been wondering if the software original Bass Station VST could be used to edit the BSII at least for those functions that are there. Otherwise I had wondered if Novation was going to come up with an editor. Good to see someone has fit the bill. If you are in the middle of controlling several software and hardware machines from one computer, any that are left out (such as a BSII sitting off to the side or even across the room) could prove to be a distracting inconvenience. For when it’s necessary, an editor like this can be a boon.
Wonder how this compares to Filthy Filterz editor: http://filthyfilterz.com/bass-station-2/
I’ve made quite a few patches for the BS2, which are free to download https://soundcloud.com/magikroom/bs2-custom-patches-2
While it is simple to make patches on the BS2, I can understand the need for a VST editor and will get this. Going back to a patch and seeing what settings I used is very informative and will help with further sound design which i’ll do…free as always. Not 100% though if it reads current patches, but i’m sure it would.
From their website:
“Since release in 2013 the Novation Bass Station 2 becomes a very popular monophonic synthesizer. But till today there was no nice looking and perfect working editor available. Sometimes it could be very usefull to edit the parameters of this amazing synth on screen within your DAW. Now the time has come. A software editor for the Novation Bass Station 2 is available. Optimized for a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 px.”
and
“The ZIP-File contains the following files:
Novation BS2 Editor 32bit
Novation BS2 Editor 64bit
Novation BS2 Editor User Manual (engl)
Novation BS2 Editor VST 32bit
Novation BS2 Editor VST 64bit
Novation BS2 Editor VST MAC
Novation BS2 Editor AU MAC 32 Bit
Novation BS2 Editor Mac Standalone”
–> In the long description there is no windows VST x64, and in the Zip file list there is no Mac x64. So which one is correct? I suspect the first, because I can find no Windows x64 in the downloaded demo.
And I’m not going to purchase it until I know for sure that I’ll get an x64 Windows VST.
edit: I see the “VST version for Windows 32/64 Bit” in the description now… but then why isn’t it in the demo version?!
Can I pay for the Editor with Master-Card ?
