VirSyn has introduced Tap Delay – a new iOS effect app that combines the sound of vintage tape echo machines with a modern, step sequencer-like tapped delay engine, which they say ‘continues the tradition of the tape echo machines into the 21st century’.
Here’s the official video intro:
Tap Delay’s tape simulation includes these options for the recreation of a faithful analog tape sound:
- Compression and Saturation
- Tape hiss
- Tape head bias
- Wow and Flutter (Tape speed instability)
- Smooth speed / delay time changes
Three feedback filters with hipass/lowpass and bandpass characteristic simplify the creation of authentic dub echo effects.
The built-in Limiter allows for endless feedback sounds.
Use live input from any source – Microphone, Guitar, Audiobus and Inter App Audio – or take a song from your iTunes library for processing.
Features:
- Multi-tap delay machine
- 24 taps for rhythmic delay effects
- Tape simulation ( Saturation, Noise, Flutter )
- Alias free tape saturation through oversampling.
- MIDI controllable including Tempo sync
- Delay loop equalizer for dub effect.
- Glitch free simulation of variable tape speeds.
- Spatial echo rotation effect.
- Audiobus 2 compatible with state saving
- IAA compatible ( Auria, Cubasis, Garageband ).
- Integrated iTunes player.
Tap Delay is available now for US $4.99 in the App Store (regularly $9.99).
Can this run as a plug in in Logic Pro (9)? I don’t see any AU tab…
it’s for iOS so no.
Actually if you have an iConnect device then, yes you can – using your iPad as an outboard effects unit. Also maybe if you have Audiomux as well. It’s just not that straightforward, and I’m not sure that it’s worth the effort since there are already good solutions native to Logic and most other DAWs.
sale now so get
because you lose if you delay
punny for sure
Looks like it could be a cool delay plug-in. But does it
have that same fuzzy muzzy Buzzy sound that the rest of the virsyn and plug-ins have?
