Sunday Synth Jam: This vintage synth jam captures Donny Osmond, on the Donny and Marie show, playing a Moog modular, with three drummers and a horn section, on the jazz standard, Topsy.
In the 1/13/78 performance, Osmond plays (or mimes?) the Moog modular in the 70’s ‘switched-on’ style, accompanied by drummers Desi Arnaz Jr., Jay Osmond and Jimmy Osmond.
Does this qualify as even ‘a little bit rock and roll’? Leave a comment and let us know what you think!
saw the Melvins play the whole Ozma album with 3 drummers once, damn that was almost 20 years ago i think
LSD
Lorenzo St. DuBois?
Cool…never knew he played a Moog modular, there’s a performance on “The Donny And Marie” show where he uses an ARP 2600. He’s quite the electronic keyboard whiz!
Seems like the lead sound is coming from the keyboard on the left and the one up front (during the solo). I don’t get it but that’s probably not the point.
Donnie is generating the Square wave.
Your hearing must be off. The Osmonds exclusively use the sawtooth wave.
Your sense of humor must be off. 🙂
Saw…tooth. Osmonds… teeth. That’s still a thing, right?
people don’t entertain like that anymore
thank Goddess
That was so stupid, it made me happy. Thank you Donny!
The other drummers were: two Osmond brothers and Desi Arnaz Jr.

This is like a surreal dream. I can imagine that too much LSD might look something like this.
Which Moog module synthesized the voltage-controlled random applause?
I saw this back in the day. The horror… What a waste.
