Sunday Synth Jam: This video captures a performance by Kaitlyn Smith on a Make Noise modular system, controlled with a Buchla LEM218 keyboard.
The LEM218 is based on the keyboard in Buchla’s Music Easel, but adapts it so that CV, gate, pulse and pressure outputs are compatible with Eurorack systems.
See Smith’s site for more examples of her work.
Normally when I see many wires; I’m wary of intellect over expression or soul: In the world of ‘clever’ synthesis… But, the heart wins here, for me. Great expressionism. And my intellect is allowing me to say so!
Cool. I like the different textures of sound combinations used. Nice job!
From the bio on her website: “a neighbor who lent her a Buchla 100 synthesizer”. FFS, my neighbor had an ocarina and a battered Spanish guitar. Life’s a bitch.
Yeah, and when I was 12 my Mum refused my very reasonable request to cut a six-inch diameter hole in the back of our piano in order to fit it with a loudspeaker and several contact mikes. Creativity crushed.
Not something to write home about or make a video for, really…
Really cool, nifty…
That was truly inspiring! Thank you for that.
That was great!
Everything she does is gold
