Jambé Electronic Percussion Instrument Performance Demos

At the 2016 NAMM Show, SensorPoint is showing the Jambé electronic percussion instrument,

The Jambé combines high-resolution sensing and an embedded computer with high-definition sound kits.

It was originally introduced at last year’s show, but is now available for pre-order.

Here’s a set of performance demos, recorded at the NAMM Show:

The software was created with the idea that a single hand or stick strike on a Jambé pad maps to a powerful individual voice, each with advanced expression and sound design features, including:

  • Expanded Gestural Interpretation – normal percussive strike detection and MPE (Multi-touch Polyphonic Expression) style performance techniques, with sounds triggered or modified while a pad is held.
  • Extensive Synthesis Tools – 2 LFOs, 3 envelopes, 2 tracking generators, and 2 ring modulators per voice. Over 30 modulation sources and over 40 modulation destinations.
  • Natural Sonic Variations – 3 sample lists per voice with up to 8 samples per list.
  • Sample List Modes – sequentially trigger the samples in a list, allowing stroke variations or sequential patterns. Crossfade between samples using a modulation matrix and trigger samples simultaneously for chords.
  • Gestural Crossfade Between Sample Lists – creates effects like a closed slap or dead stroke without tying up multiple pads for an open and closed slap.
  • Massive Polyphony – with the ability to use number of voices playing as a modifier for more natural sound layering.
  • Unique Features – use the number of voices sounding as a modulation parameter. Enables sculpting the sound as more voices play. Perfect for adding special character to rolls, etc.

The Jambé is available for pre-order now for US $799.99.

  1. wow, so versatile. i’m salivating… soon to be lactating if i can find the $$$. although, “instruments can be purchased through your the iOS device” – U WOT M8?! no crapple gear under my roof, tyvm. midi out makes up for that, though… decisions…

“first 200 customers … receive a $200 discount” is sth else that sucks, hate stuff like that. i don’t wanna be rushed to a purchase and punished for deciding carefully. whatever, guess i’m a whiny bitch.

    1. Who cares about you? If you’re fanboy/anti-fanboy it’s all the same, stop limiting yourself, iPad is an amazing device for any music producer, not because it’s an iPad but because it has so many different people making great apps for it.

  2. Love this concept as a somewhat skilled percussionist. Would be awesome to add to my electronic setup. Price turned me off at first but it’s probably fair given what they are offering.

  3. Does the Jambe have MIDI out?

I have a PC + 2 iPads and want to get into hand percussion with electronic trigger pads.
I have a large library of sample-sets (for Kontakt etc.) especially African & Middle-Eastern styles.
I want a hand percussion pad that is not tied to iPad only, but prefer to attach to my PC to play my libraries there.
