   1. Have you seen them? Whatever incarnation, Ralf and co. put on a tremendous show. The music is still brilliant. If you don’t go see them you are truly missing out.

      I loved Propaganda, too, but they were a very different group from Kraftwerk. And other than Dr. Mabuse, they weren’t that much electronically oriented, but more pop oriented.

         This is a covers band … possibly best covers band on Earth.

         Saw them last 2005 Minimum-Maximum.

         1. I saw them the same year as well. Both Ralf and Florian were on that tour. Great show. Covers band??? It was the group doing their own music and doing it well. It wasn’t some other people doing their music.

               One original member playing music he partly composed (says something when the other composers are not even credited in the live performance)

               Along with three others who never composed anything

               = a covers band.

6. I was lucky enough to see them in 2004 in Manchester .
   I read the book I was a Robot by Wolfgang Flur and that sort of shocked me and I am no longer impressed with them or the legacy.
   Even though I like a few tracks.

   1. Can you elaborate on why you’re no longer impressed? I find it is often best to separate the art from the artist, so I’m curious what you read that turned you off so much.

8. I was at the Kraftwerk 3D concert here in Miami earlier this year. Some of the images and songs were a bit dated (especially the more recent updates). It is a great experience and it is worth going to hear the music amongst long-time fans (judging from the mean age of my fellow attendees). Do not go expecting the envelope to be pushed much, go to hear the great tunes live.

9. I understand people want to be pedantic about who is or isn’t a particular band when lineup changes happen. I also understand that people can be critical of the degree that a performance is live with music based on sequences, but you know what? I go to hear, see, and experience a show, and the thread of this being the ‘official’ current incarnation of Kraftwerk makes it enough for me to want to attend. It’s not like it’s four guys from the lower east side with some DJ lighting, natty outfits, and faithful reproductions of the music (a cover band); this is Kraftwerk with all their tech.

   I do have sympathy for the creative engine being a shadow of it’s former self, the main of the catalog is from long ago, and it’s definitely not the ‘same’ as it ‘was’ ‘back then.’ I get that. The Kraftwerk as it is currently constructed is the only Kraftwerk we can go see, so I say go enjoy it if you are so inclined, and if you’re not so inclined, I’ll stay the heck off of your lawn, I promise — at least as far as you know;)

10. Really looking forward to the Movement show. I’ve seen their 3D performance three times now (Toronto, Montreal, Detroit) and I think it will really benefit from the world-class, open-air sound system.
