Scottish synth designer Ken MacBeth shared these images that offer a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a new synthesizer, the MacBeth Studio Systems M7-D.
Look closely and you can see that this is a cardboard panel, which MacBeth uses to visualize his design and test its usability.
MacBeth notes:
Here’s the upper section of what I’m working on- I call it M7-D.
In fact- try to imagine 4 rows of slider parameters and you are getting there!…..more to follow!……..
This is at a very experimental stage, but it’s up, running!- this by the way- a card fronted prototype…..let’s me visualise things !
The M7-D will feature a new filter design, a Trans Diode Filter.
The MacBeth M7-D is still in the prototype stage, so details are to come.
One day I’ll own a Macbeth….
By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.
Very interesting!
So this will be +2 to the M5?
looks a bit like an Odyssey on steroids eh? 🙂
Glad to see that he has time to be working on new products while I wait more than 8 months for my Elements…
From what I’ve seen of his manufacturing process, his doing design work has nothing to do with how quickly the production gets done.
The fact that he makes small run electronics, though, does.
I’ve tried on two separate occasions to order a micromac through Ken and he hasn’t bothered to get back on either occasion…disappointing.
He doesn’t seem to try and ‘sell’ his synths on his site. His site is sort of retro.
I think he keeps lefty busy with sales from his retail partners. There’s no denying that they guy makes beasts!
He’s a busy man mon
