This video, via SynthMania, is a demo of the preset patterns for the LinnDrum – Roger Linn’s iconic drum machine.
The LinnDrum cost about $3,000 when it was new in 1982, but that didn’t keep it from selling by the thousands and becoming one of the most-heard sounds of the 80s.
This is a kick arse Linndrum track.

I hear Michael Jackson, Moby,, Kajagoogoo…
Human League and Heaven 17 in there as well.
Frankie Goes to Hollywood too. I love this drum machine!!!!
Reminds me of SpecDrum, a hardware interface for ZX Spectrum with D/A and software, which I still have somewhere around…
Ev3rybody in the 80s, electric friends, cars, everything is super!
Hey man,
good to see that your vids are on Synthtopia aswell.
Not enough “synthwavers” on here yet.
(it’s Jake here by the way – Jacob Livion)
So basically everyone in the 80’s didn’t program a damn thing lol
