EarMaster has announced that its ear training and sight-singing application – already available for Mac & Windows – is now available for iPad.
It offers exercises for all levels, designed to train users to:
- sight-read and sight-sing music;
- recognize intervals, chords, scales and melodies by ear;
- increase rhythm and pitch precision;
- learn to transcribe music by ear; and
- learn the core concepts of music theory.
Users can sing their answers into the app and get instant feedback on their pitch and rhythm accuracy, tap rhythms live on the screen of their iPad, practice ear training or sight-reading with a MIDI piano or other MIDI instruments, learn to sing with solfege syllables, check their stats to pinpoint areas that demand more training, do interactive dictations with all-time Jazz classics, and more.

I’m not sure if anything has changed, but I was unable to get any kind of pricing on the IAPs (other than that they are discounted).
Slick demo. If it lives up to the hype it could be a great value.
They had me at “other MIDI instruments.” I’ve been using Tenuto thus far along with David Lucas Burge. Tenuto is good but i put in for external MIDI as a request a long time ago. It’s nice to be fluent in multipe timbres with relative pitch, especially with synthesis. Yaye!
