Behringer has released another preview of their new DeepMind 12 polyphonic analog synthesizer.

This video takes a quick look at the DeepMind 12’s LFO features.

    1. There’s only one track that has the LFO on it. It’s modulating the filter cutoff, if that helps.

      The LFOs do get nice and fast, but not fast enough to really do much in terms of FM or AM– just fluttery and fun.

      1. Thanks. Yes, I can recognize the track being modulated by the LFO but I hear more sounds in the mix (other than the drums)… or am I hearing wrong? I guess my question is: Can the DM make all those sounds at the same time? (multitimbral?)

        Or maybe is a play with the oscillators

    2. Nick has said he wants to wait until it goes into production so that way he can review what coustmers are actually receiving. Sadly we will have to wait for his studious critiques.

  6. They should just start selling the synthesizer, otherwise no one will be interested in them anymore. The demos aren’t that pretty, only specs are.

  7. They should have just gave the prototype to sonic labs and let them do a thorough review. Everybody knows about sonic lab and thier honesty. It kinda makes me feel like they got something to hide.

Beringer, as far as I am concerned, has done a nice bit of design, and engineering here…my main question is will it have CV in and out….but that’s not gonna make or break my feeling about this synth…I’m glad they have joined in with this offering….I have quite a bit of Behringer gear in my studio….and it all delivers!!

    1. I believe it has been confirmed that it has CV/Gate out. I suppose they could still add an IN, but I don’t see that happening. Hopefully the control seq will be routable to the CV out. as Personally, I was hoping there would be an external audio in.

      1. I agree about the audio input. Those effects (and filters) are very nice sounding, and with a mod matrix, it provides some useful sound-design capabilities.

        If it lacks an audio in, it makes me wonder if someone will figure out a hack to add one.

      2. One CV in for control of any parameter, I think assingable in the mod matrix. Also this input can swap to a gate in to trigger the internal seq.

  10. Shills all around.

    This the first synthesizer from a company which have very bad reputation when it comes to quality. The synth is designed by guys who haven’t ever done anything like it before, they are software guys. It is something like a science project in high school.

    I can’t wait the moment when someone finally takes this apart to find there are no analog lfo’s or analog oscillators, there is only cheap analog filter chip, but everything else is done via software. Even editing resolution will be 7bit, so there are no sweet spots.

    I’m also pretty sure it is done like Behringer other products, tolerances are around 2-3mm, parts will fall apart and people will get horrible electrical shocks from it.

      – Nobody ever mentioned analog LFOs
      – DCOs
      – Define “cheap”
      – Nobody ever mentioned full analog path
      – At least 256 steps

      Keep hating.

    3. As a maker of mass-produced devices, Behringer has the clout to get volume discounts on components which contributes to their bringing it to market at that phenomenal price.

      I think the point about Behringer’s reputation is well-know. But the quality-control issues seem to be limited to certain designs, while other products in their line are reportedly much more reliable. Behringer as a company does seem to have learned from some of their mistakes.

      But your comments about getting shocked, or the product not delivering what is promised are hyperbolic.

    4. If you were true with your statement Behringer would’ve been backrupt since long time and not one of the fastest growing companies in the music business . All the Behringer gear I own and owned were good without any complaints about quality. IMO you’re just repeating some cock-and-bull stories without any proof. So, please keep with facts!

    5. Just listened to that lfo-demo via my Behringer MX2642a (the oldest blue version), must be at least 20 years old. During all that time it has been in daily use. Never needed any service.

      It’s Behringers first synth yes – but hey, building an analog synthesizer adding some digital bits and pieces ain’t exactly rocket science.

      P.s. Midas are a company who have been making respected mixing desks for years, so I should think they know a little bit more about what they are doing than you give them credit for.

  11. You have those LEDs for the wave shape. Nice, but……..it look like you have to hit edit, then go to the edit screen, tab to wave shape and move the data slider. Why not a but to change wave shape? Even a shared one when you have the edit buttons below the LFOs.

    Why not a rotary encoder for data entry? Currently you will have to move it to “catch” the value if the slider is at the top of its travel but the value is at the bottom. Unless the big silver control can do this but that isn’t what the endless demos are showing.

    2. Also the +/Yes and -/No should let you select different waves, unless you’re saying that specifically the DCO waveshapes are only accessible through the slider for some reason.

  13. This synth seems to yield more news posts than the others. It’s like there’s a new article covering a different parameter of the synth every other day now. it’s annoying.

    1. And videos like this one that show it has LFOs are not exactly groundbreaking.

      Whoa!!!! You mean you can actually modulate audio and control signals in this thing!!! Game Changer!!!!

      If anything, this video seem to confirm that this synth is a menu diving masterpiece.
