Pricing and Availability
The Expert Sleepers ES-8 will be available starting from October 1st, 2016 for US $550.
$550 is expensive.
You can get a used MOTU – Ultralite with 8*inputs, 10*DC-Coupled outputs for Much less $.
Even cheaper: get an 828mkII, with even more i/o … then add an Expert Sleepers ES-3 for 8 audio/cv outputs, and you’ve still spent less money.
550 🙁 Crazy price. I’ve been waiting ES8 long ago, now i won’t buy it.
I wonder if this module could be used to sync the teenage engineering op-1 to a modular set up instead of using the oplab?
Are you referring to Firewire versions? Because the USB ones are same price as this. Less I/o for sure. The ES3 is around 300.
The USB / FireWire ‘Hybrid’ ones are usually less then AU$400 here is Australia.
I’d just love to see a Windows solution so I can start playing between Reaktor and my modular gear. Please Expert Sleepers release a Windows version of the ES-8
Remember that no MOTU has DC coupled inputs, nor supports the full Eurorack +/-10V, nor as far as I know works with an iPad.
Yes they are DC coupled outputs.
MOTU are one of the very few which have, as well a Native Instruments – Komplete Audio.
Yes, but no DC coupled input.
Yes, MOTU have DC coupled outputs. I said DC coupled inputs. No audio interface that I know of has DC coupled inputs, other than the ES-8.
Looks tempting to me, pretty comprehensive way to control and record a eurorack system without a stack of adapters and extra input/output modules.
Once windows deivers show up ill give it another look.
Been piping my modular’s output through one or two lines, simply due to lack of inputs on my audio Interface. Makes it a pain to try to edit out mistakes after the fact, but it also prevents me from becoming a control freak and endlessly tweaking the mix.
Honestly, I’m not sure if a product like this would be a good thing or a bad thing for my workflow, but I’m glad to have the option. Of course, for that price, I could buy a Focusrite 18i20, which would perhaps be a more versatile option for my studio as a whole.
this is the most realized product in the line..
big respect.

FWIW the price was dropped to $475 to reflect the current £/$ exchange rate.
