Spitfire Audio has introduced Spitfire Symphony Orchestra – a set of pro-level tools for creating virtual orchestrations for TV, film, games and radio.
SSO is designed as a single, pro-level orchestral solution, containing all three major families of the orchestra (woodwinds, brass, strings).
Here’s what they have to say about it:
World-class woodwinds, brass and strings exhaustively sampled at Air Studios in the Hall by an award winning team over the last 5 years with a single core aim and approach. Formerly the platinum and 10 star reviewed “British Modular” range, SSO offers a single truly professional solution for people wanting to make blockbuster symphonic music.
From the root level of our instruments folders, you’ll immediately see a unified and simple approach. Offering up a pre-curated set of playing styles (or articulations) in a way that is easy to access and simple to execute with relatively little orchestral programming experience. You’ll see, as you dig deeper into more adventurous areas of the library, that it will grow with your experience and personal development as an electronic orchestrator.
Each choir (woods, brass, strings) has a huge selection of playing styles, with numerous dynamic layers, release triggers, round robins, true and performance legatos. With unique and comprehensive playing styles, different section sizes (solo, a2 and a6 where appropriate) for the brass and woodwinds, alongside an enormous heart of 60 strings players up front, this band of over 100 players is complimented by some super exclusive orchestration tools for no-nonsense composition at the coalface by the name of “Masse”, only available to owners of SSO.
Pricing and Availability
Spitfire Symphony Orchestra is available now for US $1,699. See the Spitfire site for demos and details.
Let me tell you a story about a guy. He said: “Good sounding” . Looks at the price. Falls on the floor. Thats all he said basically
Let me tell you a story about a guy who was making a living using this excellent software.
All his accountant said was, “tax deductible”
I was looking at the Vienna Symphony Library which, in its fullest version, is about $12,000 (and 1 TB of data).
Bob is right on the money. As someone who has struggled with the crap library included with Kontakt, and has laughed at the terrible libraries from Garritan and IK, I dream of scoring a gig (pardon the pun) that could help offset the cost of a decent library. I’d select that Kontakt Library/Orchestral folder and delete it.
Over a hundred players in this thing, so less than 16 bucks per instrument, sounds like a sweet deal to me.
do you think this is a better solution, in terms of quality orchestral sound, in comparison to the komplete 11 ultimate option ?
Comparing with East-West seems to be the most logical equivalent.
you mean that komplete 11 ultimate orchrstra sounds arent as good as spitfire’s or east west ? I am thinking of buying some quality instruments and looking for a value for money option.
Close! Very close! But not quite there yet IMO… To me the strings and brass still sound ‘Sampley’ in some parts and very real in others. As to the price… Considering the cost of just a couple of string players on a small session this library is pretty good value.
