Native Instruments has released Maschine 2.6.5, a free software update for all Maschine 2 customers.
The update introduces Ideas View, a new layout that lets users build Scenes by mixing and matching patterns. Maschine users can now experiment with new beats, vamps, and fills, or audition melodies and alternate between elements to find combinations they like.
The update also features enhanced plug-in integration to trigger Scenes, making it easier than ever to try out ideas and find cool arrangements directly from the DAW via MIDI.
Additionally, in Maschine 2.6.5 users can load new Groups on the fly, while audio and MIDI routings remain intact. Since every sound plays on its own previously mapped channel, users are now able to audition sounds for patterns or record alternate takes into a DAW, without losing settings.
Maschine 2.6.5 is available now as a free download for Maschine 2 owners via Native Access.
Such innovation, much wow.
I have to admit, Maschine sits idle most of the time. It’s one of those things you know would be useful in a production but is somewhat of a hassle to integrate within. I tried the new update out last night and the “Idea” layout makes things easier. I don’t care about creating ideas, but from a workflow perspective it makes it a tad easier for me. [my age plays a part in this]
I understand that most of my frustrations over the years have been user error, but what does bug the heck out of me is Maschine 2s integration with Komplete Kontrol S_ controllers. Tis a pain.
Can you elaborate on what is bothersome about Maschine’s integration with Komplete Kontrol S-series?
I’ll try. You’d think that out of the box when you open the Maschine 2 app and turn on my KK S61 that everything would work as expected. No different than if you’re using the the KK app. The lights guides would reveal the kit that’s loaded and those lights would represent the color of the scene – etc, etc. Also, to get my KK S61 to play kits properly, you have to change the midi routing of each group. Then if you have 3 groups with this midi routing as instructed, all 3 groups play when you press a key (this I’m sure is my error and looking into it). In my mind Maschine 2 should do all “connecting the dots”, and more, for you – if you have the KK midi controller selected.
I’m seeing now that I spoke too soon in some of my complaints. I’m sorting things out.
Nableton Live
Interesting how all the sequencers – hardware and software – are emulating Live.
The update has been something sorely missing in Maschine. The Ideas layout makes it WAY easier to arrange a track now. Also I didn’t have any issues integrating with Cubase. I just opened up a rack instrument instance of Maschine, set the amount of outs and routed the the groups… took less than 30 seconds for a 12 track project. As a heavy Maschine user, this is by far the most useful update NI has made Since v2 came out in my opinion.
Be curious to see how ideas view is shown on maschine studio display.
